MEMORIES: I was about to start this section with ‘another week of just being a mum’, but then I realized how messed up that statement is. ‘Just’. As if being a mum is somehow less than. Social media has convinced us that unless we find time to raise children, build a thriving career, start a side hustle, learn another language, and maintain a vibrant social life, we’re not enough. Why do we feel like we have to be multi-hyphenates? To wear a million hats in order to legitimize our chosen life path. It’s funny when you think about it, since a mum is the ultimate multi-hyphenate. Doctor-therapist-teacher-coach-policeman-chef-chief of staff…..the list goes on. That’s not to say that ambition is a bad thing. I love to work and I love feeling inspired.
I just want to retrain my brain so that my first instinct isn’t to minimize someone else’s (or my own) choice to focus on one thing. So, let’s try this again! Another epic week with my kids — filled with love, laughter, tears, and triumphs. I know life will get busy again soon and I’ll miss the simple moments. I’m trying to stay present and grateful, even when they’re hurling sh*t across the kitchen or challenging each other to a duel.
MANTRA: I am enough.
MUSINGS: All my fave denim pieces on The Corner this week. I’m sticking with the classics — not a low rise jean in sight.
MOTIVATION: Haven’t danced in a while and this felt goooood. Loved the sculpting work too. I like to make the room super dark, crank the volume, and let loose. If I ever go to a club again you bet your ass I’ll be ready to dance battle.
What I’m wearing: Someone on the internet told me to stop trying to be Gen Z. Sorry babes, I’m not a quitter.
What I’m eating: Protein mug cake. Feels naughty but it’s healthy! This is my pre-bed snack. I sub almond butter for peanut butter and sometimes leave out the banana (although it’s not as good). So quick and delicious.
What’s in my shopping cart:
Khaite Branna Dress: Cannot wait to get my hands on this dress. Definitely a splurge but I plan on wearing it non-stop. Works for so many different occasions.
Jacquemus Le Bob Gadjo Hat: Embrace the bucket. It’s not leaving.
Rose Inc Tint Serum Foundation: I love this serum so much. The tint gives you a perfect golden glow without the heaviness of foundation or tinted moisturizer. I picked one a little darker than my skin tone and I put it on every morning.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz$25
Le Bob Gadjo Bucket Hat$125
Skin Enhance Luminous Skin Tint Serum Foundation$49
What I’m excited about:
- My first trip to Boston next week
- A week of ‘optimal sleep’ according to my oura ring (god I’m old)
- Making summer plans — ibiza NOT Ibitha
What I’m committed to:
- Good vibes - I’ve been a little bitchy lately :)
- Intuitive eating - more listening to my body. 10:30am lunches allowed
- Dance - for workouts or for fun. Moving my body to music just does something for my soul (as long as no one is watching)
