Where I'm at with the white t-shirt search

Over the past few months, a lot of you have asked me the same question: Did you ever find the perfect white t-shirt?
Short answer: not really.
Long answer: it’s coming.
It all started at dinner with one of my best friends, Maddy. I was bitching about the floppy sleeves on my white tee, and she was annoyed at the shitty quality of the expensive one she’d just bought online. I told her I was going to reach out to my followers to see if they’d cracked the code. I bought a few, she bought a few, then we both bought a LOT more.
Somewhere along the way, it became a hyperfixation.
I’m now stuck with a pile of tees destined to become tie-dye projects for my kids, and a growing list of “almosts.” The ones that were more affordable didn’t feel the way I wanted them to. Wrong shape, weird fabric, too sheer, too thick, too cropped, too long. It always felt like settling.
Some were well made but crazy expensive. Like, $150-for-a-t-shirt expensive (this will NOT be included in said project). And listen, I get the whole “cost per wear” thing because it’s how I justify my larger purchases, but something about that price point never sat right with me. What’s frustrating is that it feels like we’re stuck between two not great options: either spend a shit ton or buy something that won’t last, which just forces you to keep buying more, more, more.
And that’s led us here. Attempting to build our very own brand. To quote my favorite influencer Mads Mitchell:
“How hard can it be, boys do it”
Right now we’re deep in development, learning about things like fabric sourcing, fit grading, and why manufacturing is both fascinating and wildly complicated (take a shot every time someone says the word tariff). We don’t have a launch date yet, but I wanted to let you know now. Before it’s polished, before we have all the answers.
This isn’t some marketing gimmick or a cutesy way to launch a product.
We’re trying to make pieces that feel thoughtful and elevated, but still easy. Chic but not offensively priced. Great fitting tees for different bodies, different days, and different phases *cough* luteal. Pieces you can wear with jeans, or under a blazer, or over your swimsuit on the way to the beach. One that doesn't have to be tossed after a battle with some marinara.
So here’s where I ask you: what do you expect from the perfect t-shirt? What annoys you about the ones you have? Should we all get together for some Tee Parties? (I’ll show myself out).
This is so new for me. A little terrifying but also really exciting. I’m at a point where I’m done holding myself back from pursuing things that are meaningful, even if they’re scary. You don’t get what you don’t ask for. And you don’t build your perfect wardrobe by compromising on the basics.
I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
xx

Such a great idea!! We need a perfect white tee asap 😂 what annoys me about the ones I have are:
•see through
• to thin
• the collar of the tee being to tight -

I want a shirt that is a full shirt, nothing cropped. A t-shirt shouldn’t be tight unless you buy sizes too small. It should fit like a t-shirt; not boxy and the sleeves sit like sleeves; no flutter sleeves or cap sleeves. I want a white shirt to be white, not see through. There should be enough thread count to make it a shirt. I also enjoy when a shirt is labeled correctly, “Oversized, tunic length” etc. I hope this helps and that you develop the perfect shirt. I will 100% buy it!

I’m loving where this is going !
My perfect tshirt would be with a round collar, sleeves that cover top part of my arms, NOT see through, not too tight but not too loose, like it can be worn for business meetings and also for a more casual look (if it makes sense…). And of course, quality ! It needs to survive multiple washings without turning grey or loose. -

To quote my husband: “ A hero for the people.”
We’re committed to following this development and 100% supportive of you creating the gold standard tee! As someone who is very sensitive to haptics, I am also so down to be on the list of test subjects if you need numbers with brutally honest feedback.
An ideal white tee must not be high-necked (I often feel like tees are choking me out), not see-through (obvi), and sleeves to the elbow with either a long waist (pushing mini dress length) or a waist falling at about where mid-rise pants would sit. Not to mention the material needs to be soft and not scratchy but durable. I like my shirts to feel like they drape on me while still holding a little shape (you want the form but don’t want it to look boxy). Good luck on your venture! -

I love your outfits so I totally would get behind you creating your own brand. What bothers me about tops when I am shopping is:
1. How it is difficult to find a cute top that is not cropped or so small I think I am in the kids section.
2. When the tops dig into my arm pits.
For white shirts, I do not like when they are see through. If I am wearing a t-shirt I do not want to have to wear a tank or something underneath. -

I hate when a T-shirt is way too tight around my arms. I want it to be a little loose but not super loose. And also I hate when the sleeves are too short as well as too long. I need that sweet spot in the middle. Also cropped has to be AT LEAST past the belly button. I don’t want to be showing my stomach anymore 🤣

One that hits at the right part of the waist – not fully cropped but not so long that it has no shape. Ik this is vague but I hope the girlies know what I’m talking about

I’d love something breathable, that’s not sheer, not too thick, more of a low cut neckline so I don’t feel like I’m choking, but also not something super low. Most importantly I want to be able to wash and dry it and it stay the same size as when I bought it and not shrink.

So my favourite T-Shirt is from Massimo Dutti. The items code is 6823/540. I have 5 in black AND in white. I love the feel of the material. It’s 100% cotton but it feels so nice and smooth. I’m recommending it to anyone, you should definitely try them out.
And the price is ~ €30/$35 -

Yes! About damn time, feel like you are the woman for the job, high quality, long lasting and reasonably priced! My struggle is with makeup or skincare products getting on the collar – as well as just general stains after only a year of owning!

Love the idea! Quality, obviously (like others have said, a shirt that can be washed a ton without changing its shape). And it must be fair-fashion, i.e. fair wages and working conditions for everyone involved ❤️

Music to mine ears! Trying to find a white tee that isn’t too sheer, doesn’t stick to your pits, or make you feel like a priest with a high collar is insanity. Would you consider making a few differnt versions? The three tees has a good ring to it

I want one that is slightly more fitted on the top and looser around the tummy, sleeves that cover my whole upper arm/shoulder (mid way to elbow), also looser sleeves, and something to keep pit stains at bay?? And scoop neck!

I am a plus sized woman and definitely need a great white T-shirt. Number one, it cannot be see through. I hate a cropped shirt and a really high neck line. I like a looser fit, but not messy looking. The sleeves should not be too long or too short. Good luck! I can’t wait to see what you come up with and hope you include sizes for everyone. Thanks! ❤️

Love! What i mostly look for in a white tee is that it doesn’t get yellow around the armpit area, or black around the neck! I like a cotton fabric like any other, and a baby tee cut (NOT crop top).
